Good Bye George Steinbrenner

By Douglas V. Gibbs

After a massive heart attack this morning, Yankee owner George Steinbrenner died.

George Steinbrenner has been the principal owner of the New York Yankees
since 1973. He died at the age of 80 in Tampa, Florida. He has been suffering from failing health over the past several years, and has rarely been seen in public as a result.

Tonight, at the All-Star Game in Anaheim, where the National League finally broke their All-Star losing streak, a tribute was given in the memory of the illustrious Yankees' owner.

George Steinbrenner's Yankees won 7 World Series championships, 11 pennants, and the value of the Yankee empire is suspected to be about $1.6 billion.

In the end, George Steinbrenner went out a winner.
