Today's Illegal Alien is a Different Kind of Mexican
By Douglas V. Gibbs
My wife was born in Mexico to a pair of proud parents that knew the life they hoped for for their children could not be achieved in Mexico. Papi dreamed of America, but he was too poor to bring his family to the land of opportunity. He desired to come to America to be a part of its wonderful, free, society, but he did not have a penny to pay when it came to the fees associated with immigration. So, in order to bring his family to America as legal immigrants, he crossed the border a number of times illegally. He came across a number of times to work in the United States, and he saved his earnings so that he may bring his family to America.
In conversations with Papi he explained that he had a simple strategy. He believed it was important to respect America, follow her laws, be polite, be respectful to the people, and treat America well. If you treat America well, she will treat you well right back. "Today's border crossers are different," he says. "They don't respect the United States."
Papi learned English, even attending classes at one point, to improve upon his language skills. He saved his money, and went through the long, exhaustive, immigration process. The family came to America as legal resident aliens when my wife was nearly two years old.
My wife is the oldest of seven daughters, and she is the only one of the group that was born in Mexico. She is also the only one of the brood that stands with America in proclaiming that the illegal alien invasion must be stopped.
In a recent discussion over immigration one of my wife's sisters said, "How can you be against your own people? Don't you know that Dad crossed the border a number of times illegally when he was young?"
"They are not my people," my wife responded. "Today's illegal alien is different."
She's right. The border jumpers of the fifties and sixties wanted to give to America. Today's illegal alien is only interested in taking, and that is not even considering the fact that along with Hispanics, one in three of the people crossing the border are of Middle Eastern and Asian heritage.
As opposed to aliens like my father in law, today's illegal is all about what they can take from America's treasury in the form of entitlements, and eventually "reconquering" what they consider to be occupied territory. The influence of groups like La Raza has also inserted a Marxist element into the mix. What we have now is not a few men crossing the border in the hopes of scraping together enough money to pursue the American Dream. Now, we have what amounts to be a full blown invasion.
The strategy is to overwhelm the white population with sheer numbers, then gain political influence, and eventually cede the American southwest "back to Mexico." These "reconquistadors" claim the "Europeans" are invaders, and that we stole the southwest from Mexico, and ultimately should return to Europe, and leave the land to the natives.
If that is the case, then the Mexicans need to go back to Spain.
Right, wrong, or in between, history is full of what some people may consider to be "injustices." You can't change history, and you can't fix it with silly reparations. All you can do is learn from history, and do what you can not to repeat the mistakes.
One of the lessons of history is that an influx of foreign persons from outside a nation that has no interest in assimilating into the society ultimately destroys the society. By adding millions of people who have never paid taxes, and suddenly making them recipients of gifts from the treasury in the form of entitlement programs, you place a heavy burden on the taxpayers, and such a practice will eventually collapse the economic system, and thrust the society into chaos.
And along with the Hispanic illegal aliens, who are bent on creating a Hispanic Revolution in America, come Muslims, who from their childhood to their adult lives have been taught to kill you.
Today's illegal alien cannot be compared to the border jumpers of old. They are a different breed of people. The respect for America is gone among them.
