Societal Perversion of Intimacy

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The nature of sex is supposed to be a very private and personal thing. It was created to be such; a special part of a relationship between a husband and a wife. This is why intimacy was designed not to be used outside of a commitment and contract of marriage, which is a union joined into before the eyes of God.

The opposition to Family Values, and ultimately the opposition to God, has sought to take away first the personal nature of an intimate relationship, so that sex becomes just another activity. As a result, sex is used like it is some kind of reward, or a means to gain position or leverage, or simply something to engage in just to have some fun. The goal is to destroy the personal and private nature of sex. Once the personal and private nature of sex is destroyed, then with a humanistic angle, it becomes an obsession, and an addiction; a never ending societal need for more and more.

As the nature of sex changes, and as society embraces sex as a nothing more than a recreational activity, rather than the private and personal intimacy between a married couple as originally intended, and because the opposition is working to take away the special nature of sex, the uniqueness of the act in regards to the intimacy between a husband and wife has faded.

Society has now changed gears, and the search for greater sexual satisfaction has launched itself into our society, urged on by relaxed morals, an increasingly sexually-oriented entertainment industry, and marked by the rise in homosexual behavior among members or our society. Like the drug addict that is no longer satisfied with a lesser drug and moves to the more hardcore drugs for a greater experience, so has happened with our planet full of sexual addicts. And all of this is happening simply because the private and personal nature of sex has been compromised.

To take away the private and personal nature of sex in the first place, is not enough. The true nature of this moral shift in society is not truly the progressive claim of enlightenment, or the desire to set oneself free sexually by burning bras and having multiple partners, but simply to oppose God and all that He stands for. To take away the special nature of sex, in general, is to take away the family unit, and to blur the lines between male and female. The real problem for the opposition, however, is not just societal mores. The true enemy of their onslaught on morality, and God, is the sanctity of marriage, and the personal intimacy of sex. The fact is, a belief system that marriage is a Holy sanctity, and that sex should remain a personal and private matter only practiced by those committed through the bond of marriage, still exists in the church.

That makes the church the next target.

The next steps, and many of them are already under way, are to discredit religion, Christianity in general, and to infiltrate the church with teachings that are not in line with Biblical teachings. The community of God, these people believe, must be destroyed. A campaign of "all religion is bad" must be launched, and they are launching that attack with both barrels blazing. Belief in God must be downgraded to being akin to believing in a fairy tale, or waiting up on Christmas Eve with the hopes of catching a glimpse of the mythical character of Santa Claus. In other words, it is not good enough to destroy the unique and special nature of sex. The opposition holds that they must also destroy those that protect the sanctity of marriage, which holds sex as a private and personal gift of intimacy between a husband and wife from God. These progressives seek to destroy the definition of marriage, and therefore the personal virtue of intimacy, by destroying the very people who protect the moral standards that accompany marriage and the intimacy practiced by married couples.

Destroy sex and you destroy marriage. Destroy marriage and you destroy the special private and personal nature of a Godly relationship. Destroy both, and you eliminate God from society. . . or so they believe.

Destroy God, sex, and marriage, and the most precious gifts given to us by God will be destroyed. Save marriage, and save the personal and private nature of sex as created by God, and then we will be able to turn back the enemy, and they will return to practicing their perversions in the dark, away from us, and away from our children.

And perhaps, just perhaps, cry out to God for forgiveness.
