The Narcissist That Killed America
By Douglas V. Gibbs
One thing that Barack Obama has proven since day one is that he is more than just another one of those smug politicians who cares about what the voter considers important only during election time. He masquerades as a centrist by pulling a fairly conservative blanket over himself while votes matter, then the red interior of his Marxist soul exposes itself once he has the position and power he desires. Then, like any great chameleon, the centrist cloak rises out of nowhere whenever needed, even if it contradicts what he said a matter of weeks or months before, and as if like magic, he's the great compromiser. The primary difference between Obama and other politicians, however, is that the usual politician is a member of the army of the deceived, seeking power, money and status, and doing the bidding of the higher-ups in the Democrat Party. Obama, however, is a true believer in statism, a true ideologue fueled by the anti-colonial fervor so exhibited by his Kenyan father. Unlike the typical liberal that has fallen for the rhetoric that the government is capable of providing all things, should be the ultimate regulator of all activity, and that such totalitarian functions by a government is the compassionate thing to do, Obama believes not only in a strong centralized governmental system, but that in order for such a tyrannical governmental system to thrive any competing system that exhibits and promotes individuality, personal responsibility, private property rights, personal rights, and the self-reliance of the members of the population, must be destroyed. However, President Obama has a few problems that may stop him from completing his task, and one of those obstacles is his incredible ego. In fact, his inability to humble himself has even become a trait that the liberal left media is beginning to recognize.
The tax deal compromise served as evidence of his narcissistic nature, propelling Obama into position of claiming bi-partisanship, and accomplishing something his base thinks to be brilliant and foolish at the same time. Nonetheless, most of the Republicans, Democrats and independents on Capitol Hill foolishly supports the agreement, and such a united action between the parties and the independents is something Mr. Obama has been searching for since the first day he initially dropped his suitcase on the White House steps.
The President made everybody a little bit happy. The Democrats got their extension of unemployment benefits, and increase of the death tax rate, and Republicans got their income tax rate freeze and payroll tax deduction (though only on a temporary basis). Barack Obama patted himself on the back, proclaiming that he could be all things to all people after all. "Who says you can't make all of the people happy all of the time?" he must have asked himself. Yet, despite what many would consider to be a victory, Obama also succeeded in letting his ego destroy the politics of the whole situation.
Obama's biggest fan is Obama. I am surprised he hasn't pulled his shoulder out of joint with all of his self-ingratiating pats on the back. Rather than talk about what he believes to be benefits of the bill, the work of the other people in making the agreement happen, or how America (in his opinion) will truly benefit from the willingness of the two sides to come together, he would rather take all of the credit for this rare moment of bipartisanship for himself. Obama, rather than congratulating the GOP for their willingness to compromise against the more accurate reasoning of Conservatives, launched into a verbal attack against both Democrats and Republicans that could only be rivaled by Saul Alinksy and the most boisterous Bolsheviks. Obama called members of the GOP "hostage-takers" who worship the "Holy Grail" of trickle-down economics (a term invented by liberals to try to ridicule conservative economic beliefs), and he called the "Just Say No" liberal Democrats "sanctimonious," and being more interested in their own purity than to work for the interests of the poor. The president did not just attack the policy positions of nearly everyone in the political class, he publicly questioned their motives.
Don't get me wrong, I think the tax freeze deal was a complete travesty, giving the big spenders in Washington too many concessions, and those who would destroy the American economy too many chess moves. My point, however, is that President Obama, in his celebration of what he has always strived for (Uniting America through bi-partisanship. . . even though his moves while in office have actually been divisive) failed to turn the spotlight away from his own big-eared mug. Rather than congratulating the efforts of all those involved, he criticized everyone that was a part of the deal, while telling everyone how if it hadn't been for his skills, there would have been no deal.
That is because Obama is a believer in the great lie, and everyone to him are either pawns or obstacles in a much greater game of hard left Marxist-style politics that yearns for a centralized system of governance that brings into play the age-old supposed existence of a "general will." This will is one not necessarily expressed by the general public, according to these people, but is presumed to be known by the ruling elite. Whoever refuses to obey the general will is the enemy, and must be restrained by the body politic. However, a free society such as ours doesn't allow strong arm tactics like those used in the classic totalitarian systems, so the hard left has to use creeping incrementalism, psychological warfare, class warfare, and censorship through ridicule in order to muscle into place its own will. Anyone who dares to collide head on with the advocates of the hard left agenda will not be tolerated. Obama's belief in this form of collectivist madness encourages him to believe he is somehow above everyone else, and that his political prowess is unmatched. Then, to elevate himself higher, he fully utilizes the old liberal technique of knocking down everyone who opposes him through ridicule, attacks, and parental style scolding.
Who does this sanctimonious prick think he is? The messiah?
It is one thing for a narcissistic person, with an attitude that he is everyone's intellectual superior, to have the kind of power that Obama has, but when the wielder of such power is an idiot who is in it for himself, and his Marxist Alinsky-style ideology, the only result can be the destruction of America, or Obama's own politically painful demise.
The great communicator is nothing of the sort. He is a good teleprompter reader, and a self-appointed king of the politicians. While he believes he is above the rest of the Washington, he is portraying himself as a narcissist that brandishes the maturity of a schoolyard punk.
What makes this whole power trip of Obama's worse is that his closest advisers have elevated him above even his own rhetoric. The enablers that surround Barry feed the fantasy, adding to his god-complex, and further Obama's belief that he is somehow ideologically superior to anyone and everyone that dares place a foot on the turf in the nation's capital.
While pointing to himself, it has become apparent that Barack Obama is only overcompensating in an attempt to hide his ineptitude in the world of politics. The guy is a ideological community organizer, not a man of the people as he would like to consider himself. He has no political understanding, and Obama is quite literally in over his head. He has failed to accomplish much of what he claimed he would, his campaign to fundamentally change America at its very foundation has been resoundly rejected by the American people, and his failures are mounting faster than the rising snow levels in Chicago.
Barack Obama predicted eight percent unemployment would be the maximum allowed by the massive stimulus packages, yet the advertised rate has been hovering around ten percent (U-6 is rapidly approaching 20%, and has been since a year ago), he pledged to close the Guantanamo Bay prison (no closure has happened, and no real plan was every devised), he traveled to Europe to bring the Olympics to Chicago (returned to America empty-handed and a laughing stock), his summer of recovery has become a winter of despair, his proclamation of unity has resulted in divisiveness and a Conservative landslide in the 2010 election, his drive to try Khalid Sheik Mohammed in a civilian trial in New York has turned even the most liberal Marxists in New York against him, he has revealed that conservative talk radio and Fox News tops his enemies list (drawing comparison's to Nixon's enemies list), he has all but endorsed the widely unpopular Ground Zero mosque (retreating like a whipped puppy less than a day later), and he suggested to Latinos that not only is the GOP their enemy, but that they should "punish their enemies."
And somewhere along the way he cried on the sidelines when a basketball busted his lip (though some have suggested it was Michelle delivering the blow to his kisser).
Forcing his health care bill on America, seizing parts of the private sector (automobile industry, financial sector, credit industry) in a fascist manner, and pushing unsustainable spending, while speaking out of the other side of his mouth that government spending needs to be reined in, has shown America not only how much of an incompetent fool that Obama is, but that his ideology is more important to him than what you think, what the Republican Party thinks, what his fellow Democrats think, and what the U.S. Constitution grants in the terms of federal authorities. Obama has proven to be a dangerous little man who is a legend in his own mind. Leadership does not come from telling everybody you are a leader. Leadership comes from leading, and doing so quietly and humbly.
Greatness does not proclaim its own greatness, and the general will is a lot like the theory of man-made global warming - a big fat hoax.
The good news is that Obama's ego has revealed to America much of what he is really about. The error of his election is being realized even by the most hardcore Obama supporters. His mistakes are piling up, his popularity is at a minimum, and his ineffectiveness is making Jimmy Carter very happy - because Jimmy is no longer being considered the worst president in American history.
