Anarchists Do Not Want Anarchy

By Douglas V. Gibbs

In the American political spectrum, 100% government is on the far left, and 0% government is on the far right. A constitutional limited government is slightly right of center. Authoritarian liberalism, an agenda the American liberals are trying to initiate, is hard left. Anarchy is to the extreme right. Totalitarianism is to the extreme left. Therefore, one would think that anarchists are somehow related to anyone on The Right.

The problem is, anarchists don't want anarchy. They want an oligarchy, where the political elitist few rule over the many.

To understand this, all one must do is see who the anarchists out there who are promoting violence in the streets really are.

According to a recent article in World Net Daily, some of the anarchist groups in Europe that are creating a stir are the French Alternative Libertaire, the Swiss Organisation Socialiste Libertaire which is politically close to the French AL, and the Italian Federation of Anarchist Communists, or FdCA. Note carefully that these are socialists and communists - people who believe in systems that are to the far left.

One must ask, then, why would someone who desires a strong, centralized, authoritarian governmental system engage in violence calling for a Europe with no government through the means of anarchy?

Anarchy is a transitional state of governance, transitioning whatever it destroys into an oligarchy, or a similar centralized state. In sync with theories like the Cloward/Piven strategy, anarchy seeks to destroy the old system so that a new political system can rise up from the rubble. Those with extreme liberal views believe the only way to bring about a government system where government does everything for everybody, and rules over the populace with complete authority, is to destroy all systems that use republicanism, or a democratic style function.

From chaos rises order, they believe - but the order of a totalitarian dictatorship historically is the result of such violent upheaval.

So, when the news media attempts to spin in the near future that anarchists are in cahoots with people on The Right, understand that it is actually the opposite. Anarchy wishes to destroy the free system we have through violent chaos so that a leftist system of centralized government can rise from the ashes.

  1. So you dismiss the possibility that some anarchists are naïve enough to imagine statelessness as a permanent condition? I wouldn't want to accuse you of the fallacy of mistaking your expectation for the other side's intent.

  2. Of course I am offering my commentary by speaking generally. The possibility of variations always exists. Some anarchists are only participating for the sake of participating, and deep down hope that anarchy is never achieved - then they'd have nothing to do or to fight for.
