Potential of Rising Gas Prices Lead to Rising Food Costs. . . By Design

By Douglas V. Gibbs

High gas prices, we are told, are on the horizon. Today I paid here in Southern California $3.33 per gallon to fill my tank - and there is talk that the price will exceed $5 per gallon before the end of summer, 2011.

High oil prices will threaten our already fragile economic system not only because of the affordability of gasoline for the consumers, but because of how these rising fuel costs will affect the transportation industry.

Coupled with other assaults against the transportation industry, which will increase the cost of transporting goods and materials, the cost of trucking is on its way up. Way up.

Culprits like banning all cell phone usage while driving a big rig, despite the use of hands-free devices, will force drivers to contact dispatch while not in motion, adding time to their journey - and remember, time is money. Imposing federal "fuel efficiency standards," and new federal emissions standards (Obama's goal is to impose what California plans to put into effect in 2012), will not only increase the cost of maintaining equipment, a cost that will be transferred to transportation costs, but will also knock many of the smaller companies out of business.

All of these costs add up. Fuel costs, maintenance costs, less trucks on the road which increases cost because of availability, and time costs due to delays caused by things such as communication needs, will make for a hefty bill when it comes to transporting goods.

Food prices are going up, and with the liberal policies that are causing rising oil prices, rising gas prices due to both the cost of oil and incredible taxation on energy, the idiotic moratorium on domestic drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, and the assault on the transportation industry, incredibly high food costs are on the horizon. . . and it is all by design.

Liberalism, and big government political agendas like American liberalism, seek to change (hence that "hope and change" chant during the Obama presidential campaign) systems that are not under the authoritarian control of the political elite. The best way for them to achieve such change is to destroy the existing system, and then when the population is under the worst conditions of duress, initiate the authoritarian system with the claim that it is for the public good in order to save the collapsing system.

Often, in such a Marxist style revolution, the leftists try to poke and prod their opposition in the hope that violence will erupt. A violent opposition makes for a fast track to "change." But, if the leftists are unable to make the opposition become violent, the responsibility for "change" through class warfare and duress rides high on the shoulders of the leftists. This is why the liberals are now beginning to call for violence.

We are familiar with Obama's friends, like Van Jones, calling for a violent Marxist revolution in America. The American Socialists, close political cousins of the American Liberals, have been calling for violence against the Tea Party for some time, saying that it must be done by "opening their heads." Most shocking, however, is the call for a violent revolution by Frances Fox Piven, one half of the Columbia professors husband and wife team that created the "destroy a system to replace it with leftism" strategy known as the "Cloward/Piven strategy."

Piven, who in the sixties proposed that a Marxist revolution in America would come through the welfare state, overloading the government with unsustainable programs, causing the people to rise up and overthrow their oppressive capitalist system, is calling for violent revolution with this new year. Piven's call is now to the jobless, telling the unemployed to rise up in a show of solidarity and force.

Piven wrote, “So where are the angry crowds, the demonstrations, sit-ins and unruly mobs? After all, the injustice is apparent. Working people are losing their homes and their pensions while robber-baron CEOs report renewed profits and windfall bonuses. Shouldn’t the unemployed be on the march? Why aren’t they demanding enhanced safety net protections and big initiatives to generate jobs?”

In other words, "Leftist collectivists, get angry."

“Before people can mobilize for collective action, they have to develop a proud and angry identity and a set of claims that go with that identity,” she continues. “They have to go from being hurt and ashamed to being angry and indignant.”

And along with anger must come a denunciation of personal responsibility that is so common with progressives. Instead, she indicates, workers must realize that others have put them in their current, uneasy situation: “The out-of-work have to stop blaming themselves for their hard times and turn their anger on the bosses, the bureaucrats or the politicians who are in fact responsible.”

Sound Bolshevik enough for you yet? Classic Marxist struggle between the proletariat and the bourgeoisie.

Only then, once their rage has been properly stoked, can the angry take action. And when they do, she says, the “protesters need targets.”

And who are the targets?

The targets are those that fuel an economy, those that create jobs, and those that achieve in a free market system, the capitalists . . . and the targets are anyone that dares to disagree with the angry leftist revolutionaries.

Piven is hoping for violent and bloody riots like we saw in Greece recently, and in Britain when the students were literally shouting “Off with their heads!” to the future King and his wife, while jabbing the Duchess with a stick.

Piven wants total collapse, and for a Marxist system to rise from the ashes like a triumphant phoenix.

Which makes it imperative that as we battle the anti-American leftist liberals, we do it without violence, and without giving them the excuse to use force against us.

War has broken out, and the American liberals are waging it against the American People while playing by the ever-changing rules they make as they go along. We must be persistent. But we must remember they are doing all of this by design.

Be safe, fight without violence, and always remember: United We Stand, Combined We Kick Butt.

God Bless America.
