The blogger who spearheaded the online "Draft Palin For VP" movement is launching a new and bigger draft movement for 2012. "The Dogcatcher Project" (catchthedogs.com) will target multiple entrenched Democrats in the Senate and House by drafting unexpected and unconventional Republican challengers.
"We're really going to be having fun with some Democrats that aren't expecting a fight in 2012," Brickley said, "We'll probably get accused of doubling down on crazy, but we have a great team of writers and some really innovative ideas. I'm confident that we will get a lot of traction."
The "Dogcatchers" say they plan on revealing two suggested candidates per week for the next month - starting next week with a "surprising" choice to take on Sen.Kirsten Gillibrand of New York. This will be followed by four more draft movements aimed at the Senate and at least three aimed at the house. They plan on aggressively lobbying for all of their choices and "heading the establishment off at the pass" in terms of speculation.

Machado is heavily involved in Texas politics and operates the Hispanic conservative website "GOPisForMe" (gopisforme.com)
Contributor Robert Birch has experience with avant-garde activism, having attracted media attention with satirical "green art" at his former blog "Birchtree Sustainable Studios" (birhtreesustainablestudios.blogspot.com - deactivated). "Oftentimes in elections, numbers matter more than the character of the person running for office," he said. "Now, to the chagrin of the establishment, we're combining character AND numbers."
"It's really easy to get discouraged about politics, to think no one is listening to everyday citizens," said contributor Josh Shepherd, "The truth is, in America, every voice does matter. As a group of citizens, we have decided to 'pick a fight' as William Wallace says in Braveheart.”
"If we do our job right, we will challenge some of the most basic assumptions people make in politics," Brickley said, "we're drafting a county coroner, we're drafting a historian - we've even got one race where we're drafting an anti-extremist Muslim cleric. We're breaking all the rules, and we can't wait to get started."
