Gallup Poll: 71% Says GOP Should Listen To Tea Party Ideas

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Polls tend to be unreliable. Sometimes they are believable, and sometimes I wonder. Contradictions are the cappers.

The leftists will tell you that Obama's approval rating is around 50%.

How can the left justify such a thing, when Gallup also says that 71% of Americans believe that Tea Party ideas should be listened to.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I have trouble believing that someone who believes Obama is doing a good job also thinks the Tea Party has valid points.

One of the polls have been tweaked, and I believe it is Barry's approval rating.

Either that, or split personality disorder is worse in the United States than we thought.

Okay, so seven in ten Americans would like to see Republican leaders in Congress consider the Tea Party movement's ideas as they confront the country's challenges. What does that mean?

Problem is, the poll did not ask respondents why. So, we will have to speculate.

I am willing to bet that this poll is an indication that independents largely consider the Tea Party to be themselves. People keep trying to make the Tea Party out to be an arm of the Republican Party, but one forgets that the GOP establishment has the Tea Party red hot with anger too. Most Tea Party folks I know consider themselves independent. Though I am registered Republican, I consider myself more of a Tea Party guy, than a Republican. The GOP has pissed me off, just like they have pissed off a large number of conservatives.

Independents look at the Tea Party as not being Republicans or Democrats. Independents are not what we have been told, the open-minded moderates that straddle a fence.

In the poll, seventy-two percent of independents say, "listen to the Tea Party." The Tea Party, therefore, should not be identified as a Republican movement. The Tea Party is an independent movement that is co-opting the Republican Party. Therefore, as the poll suggests, the GOP Should Listen to Tea Party.

71% of the people say so.

America will not survive if we control the message of those who disagree with us. This is dishonest and oppressive.
