Lebanon Toast, Egypt Falling, Suez Canal at Risk

By Douglas V. Gibbs

As the Muslim Brotherhood eyes gaining power in Egypt, the fear of that nation falling into radical Islamist hands includes concern over the Suez Canal. 40% of Middle Eastern oil goes through the Suez Canal.

Meanwhile, Israel's neighbor to the north, the once Christian dominated Lebanon, is in danger of falling under the control of Iran.

The Iranian backed terrorist group Hezbollah has positioned itself to become the de facto rulers of Lebanon, thereby giving control of that Arab nation to the extremist governments of Iran and Syria. Israeli officials fear the possibility of a Hezbollah-run government in Lebanon, which could lead to an increase in unrest in the Middle East that has already erupted in eight Muslim nations.

The danger is real that an Iranian "puppet government" will be established in Lebanon.
