Teaching Socialism In The Public Schools

"The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." - Norman Thomas, 1948

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The difference between individualism and collectivism is a matter of the difference between patriotism and nationalism. Socialism is an economic and political theory that advocates public or common ownership and cooperative management of the means of production and allocation of resources. As a result, a socialist society is organized in a manner that claims to be one of relatively equal power-relations, self-management, dispersed decision-making and a reduction or elimination of hierarchical and bureaucratic forms of administration and governance. However, the political structure that oversees such a system winds up becoming the sole possessors of power and wealth. In order for a socialistic system to exist the idea of individualism, or the independent exercise of one's goals and desires through self-reliance, must be eliminated. The societal structure must be one of collectivism in order for a socialistic society to exist, much like a hive full of generic worker bees that have no concern other than to work for the hive. In order for the functioning of a system such as this to maintain itself, all other concerns by the workers need to be eliminated. Therefore, religion (love of God) and patriotism (love of country) must be extinguished, and be replaced with nationalism (love of government).

The American system is one of self-rule, which finds its roots in the establishment of the English Colonies through charters. So as not to shoulder the economic burden of maintaining the colonies, the English government issued charters to investors. If the colony succeeded, The Crown would benefit later by way of commerce with the colony, and taxation on such trade. If the colony failed, it would cost The Empire nothing. As a result, the colonies were reliant upon themselves for survival, an attitude that carried them into the American Revolution, and an attitude that guided the hands of the Founding Fathers when they penned the founding documents of this nation.

Since Americans inherently adhere to the principles of liberty and self-governance as prescribed by the history of the United States, to change the system into something it was never originally intended to be is a difficult proposition. The only way to successfully alter the American form of government into a system in line with Marxist ideas, the supporters of such a change would need to do so through the children (as is common practice with tyrannies).

Fast forward to our modern day, where liberal thought and propaganda has infiltrated our education system, academia, the media, and the population centers.

Socialism, the anti-capitalist ideas defeated (we thought) when the Berlin Wall fell, and the Soviet Union collapsed, is alive an well in the United States, and is being taught in many American public schools.

Liberalism never exposes itself in an obvious manner, but hides under many masks and strategies. As Norman Thomas concluded, we are indeed under attack by socialism, but the seeds of socialism, through liberalism, are being planted in the minds of our young children through the simplest, and most unlikely means. Under the guise of teaching children to read, the seeds of Socialism are being planted, watered, and nurtured by the American liberal left.

Through the simple twisting of this nation's founding documents, the children are literally being taught that the Constitution of the United States itself mandates socialism.

"The People’s basic needs must be met in a country. Needs for housing, education, transportation, and health care overseen by our government system."

These words are being chanted across America by school children under the urgings of public school teachers. The educational program this chant is from is called "Building Fluency Through Practice and Performance."

The chant above comes from a section called "The Promise of America," breaking down the fifty-two word single sentence that is the Preamble. They have taken the words of our founders to mean something other than what was originally intended, and then offer their socialistic propaganda to the kids as a reading exercise.

The image at the top of this article is an example.

I remember that in the Declaration of Independence, among our God-given rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Notice that there is not supposed to be a guarantee of happiness, only the right to pursue it. That pursuit is called "opportunity."

However, these socialists are teaching our children the basic principles of communism, saying that all people’s basic needs must be met in a country. That it is the responsibility of the government, rather than the individual, to ensure that the needs for housing, education, transportation and health care, are met.

The Left is indoctrinating our children with socialism, homosexuality, atheism, Darwinism, and the list goes on and on, yet these are the same people that cry if the crucifix around a student's neck can be seen by other students because it is those "damn Christians trying to force their religion on us." (As these same leftists approve the building of a prayer room for Muslims in the same school.)

Hey, I've got an idea. Instead of teaching our children liberalism, which has failed everywhere it has been tried, how about we teach the Constitution (Preamble and all) as it was written, with the original intent of a limited federal government (in order to protect us from tyranny) intact?

The indoctrination of children to Socialism in America comes by way of a company called Teacher Created Materials. TCM sells ‘The Promise of America’ to thousands of school districts all across the country as well as over 100 countries around the world.

This kind of training technique has been tried many times. Remember the Hitler Youth? How about the Soviet-style indoctrination in the USSR before the iron curtain finally vanished? Communist China and North Korea have also used similar techniques.

Tyranny tries to reach the very young, hoping that upon reaching adulthood the youth will rise up to overthrow the capitalist system - which always results in blood being spilled, and always winds up becoming a failed system of slavery to The State.
