Hard left liberals like Michelle Obama believe you are a bad parent, and that you can't be trusted to feed your children properly. The progressives in government have been working to take away your ability to feed your children lunch by demanding the schools take on that role, force themselves on your kids earlier in life with mandatory pre-school, dictate to you how you can discipline your children, and now the federal government is working to force the food industry to overhaul how it advertises cereal, soda pop, snacks, restaurant meals and other foods to children.
They claim it is because of an epidemic of childhood obesity, therefore the benevolent dictators of the government must force you to feed yourselves, and your children, properly, based on "their" standards.
The authoritarian government regulators will be zeroing in on making food producers change their way of advertising foods high in sugar, fat or salt to children. The message, basically, is make the food more nutritious, or don't advertise to children, or feel our wrath.
First thought that comes to my mind is where in the Constitution does the federal government have this kind of authority?
Yes, I know they can come up with all kinds of misinterpretations of the founding document to support their fascism, but that does not make it right, and that does not allow the federal government to force such statism upon America.
And I don't care how good the intentions are. Since when can government dictate to people and companies regarding personal decisions like what they can eat?
The guidelines are said to be voluntary (the income tax was supposed to be temporary and voluntary too, but we know what happened there), but companies will surely face heavy pressure to adopt the government standards.
These moves are big government fascism, dressed in a cuddly sheepskin. Fascists, Authoritarians, and Communists throughout history would be proud of these statist Democrats.
