Remember the 2008 election campaign when candidate Barack Obama was raking in the dough, while claiming that he would keep “special interests” out of his administration?
Donald Gips, a vice president of Level 3 Communications, generated more than $500,000 in contributions to Obama, and two other company executives brought in at least $150,000.
Once Obama secured his residency in the White House, Obama put Gips in charge of hiring for the White House. This enabled Obama to install key allies in high-level positions. Then, surprisingly, the big generator of fund raising contributions was then named ambassador to South Africa.
Get Obama lots of money, and get special treatment, seems to be the lesson here.
Gips' company, Level 3 Communications, received millions of dollars of government stimulus contracts.
Whether or not Gips is telling the truth that he was unaware of this, the truth remains in place. Gips got Obama money, and then got special treatment.
Crony capitalism is alive and well in the Obama White House. Obama is a mercantilist.
