Steve Jobs, Rest In Peace, 1955-2011

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Steve Jobs was Apple. His return to Apple in 1996, after originally co-founding the company, led the company to reinventing itself, and becoming the force in information technology it is today. After years of battling health problems, including pancreatic cancer in 2004, and a liver transplant in 2009, Jobs announced on Aug. 24, 2011 that he was stepping down as Apple's chief executive. His health was continuing to deteriorate, and his position in the company was becoming too much for him.

Jobs was 56.
