Conservatives Win By Landslide in Spain

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Conservatives in Europe are still pretty far to the Left when compared to the political spectrum we follow in America. Nonetheless, the conservatives in Europe are not as far to the left as the socialists. In Spain, now that they have been stung by the failure of liberalism/socialism, the conservatives have won in a landslide.

The real question is, "Can they steer Spain away from what many consider to be an inevitable financial collapse?"

They only have a chance if they cut spending drastically, abandon governmental entitlement programs, cut taxes across the board, and drastically reduce regulations against the producers of society.

Hard choices for a country that has no other choice. Will Spain be saved from collapse? Time will tell.
