UFC Fighter Brian Stann Shows Class of the United States Marines

Former Fox commentator, and United States Marine, middleweight Brian Stann is known as one of the good guys in the UFC.  As a fighter, he has been considered to be one of those with a lot of class.  In his fight with Alessio Sakara, Stann proved once again his classy nature, becoming both fighter and referee.

Early in the match Stann took down Sakara with a flurry of knee strikes in the first round, following up with short elbows that knocked Sakara out. Realizing Sakara was knocked out, Stann stopped his assault, pulled back, and waved in the referee, Marc Goddard, so as not to inflict any more damage to Sakara.

Dana White, UFC President, tweeted after the incident, "Brian Stann is one of the classiest people on Earth!"

Light heavyweight champ Jon Jones, a training partner of Stann's, called the win "very classy" and "good for the sport."

I am sure Stann is naturally a good guy, and his class emanates from somewhere real deep, but you can't help but feel a little pride, and perhaps consider the influence of his service, knowing that Stann was also a United States Marine.

Brian Stann began his fighting career shortly after a decorated career with the Marines. He also founded Hire Heroes, a not-for-profit whose aim is to help veterans transition to civilian jobs.

This fight also immediately followed the death of his brother-in-law, and instead of leaving his grieving wife, Stann trained at home and communicated with his coaches through videos.
