For many, the 2012 Election is the most pivotal election in recent memory. An individual determined to bring down the American System as founded has made his residency in the White House, and a second term as President may very well enable Barack Obama to complete his destruction of the system that has made this nation among the greatest in history.
Most Americans are not fully aware that what is happening is not a case of Obama being in over his head. His actions, and the Democrat Party's as an accomplice, are on purpose. The liberal left has maneuvered us during Obama's first term to make Congress irrelevant, and to ensure the presidency has the majority of power through regulatory agencies, czars, and Executive Orders. If reelected, Obama will move into the next phase, consolidating all power into the executive branch, and destroying the final remnants of the Constitutional Republic, and capitalism.
With the media in full worship mode, distracting the public, and deceiving the masses with class warfare, and attacks against all opponents, has proven successful. Multi-thousand page laws too complex to read, full of vague provisions, were also a part of the plan, enabling the executive and his minions to enforce thousands of pages of regulations, only for Congress to realize later what they allowed to be put into place. Obamacare, Dodd-Frank Financial Reform Act, and various environmental bills, use language that enables members of the Executive Branch to make decisions based on their "discretion", enabling a single person an incredible amount of power without any oversight by Congress, and without any public interference.
What is worse, Congress has not challenged any of these moves by the Obama administration, essentially accepting their new role as an insignificant branch. If they continue to refuse to act, the leftist's usurpation of power will be nearly impossible to reverse. Eventually, Congress will be nothing more than a whisper in Washington, the States will be considered a nuisance, and the executive will wield all power with the assistance of the judiciary.
From the point of view of the Constitution, everything is completely upside down and backwards.
Constitutionally, the Legislature is the strongest of the three branches, and serves as a check against the Executive and the Judiciary. The States serve as a check against all of them, as the final arbiter of the Constitution. The problem is, the members of Congress, and the State leaders, don't understand the power they wield, or they are unwilling to unleash them.
The House of Representatives holds the purse strings and can defund all of the unconstitutional actions of the Executive Branch. The States can nullify any and all unconstitutional laws, and through an Article V. Convention put into place amendments to the Constitution further checking the authorities of the Judicial Branch and the Executive Branch.
This is where we come into play. Our vote is key, both at the national level, and the local level. Put in the right people, educate them in the ways of limiting principles, and hold their feet to the fire to ensure they act as we expect. Otherwise, in Obama's second term, should he pull off a win in November, Obama will be willing to do anything to neuter Congress' ability to have any say in Washington.

ReplyDeleteDoug,
Could the issue be simply the fact that the members of both houses would rather shirk their responsibilities and leave it to Judicial fiat, such as in the case of the Yonkers School Desegregation busing case for example?
As the President is, the majority of both sides in congress would much rather not face up to their responsibilities, instead they want someone else to do it for them then point the finger of blame? Combine that with the fact that so many there on both sides are in fact in agreement with the policies of the Socialist in the White house and yes, we are in danger of loosing every thing we know.
