Wisconsin's Governor Walker. . . No Recall

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Scott Walker eliminated a $3 billion State deficit, and now Wisconsin has a surplus. He saved jobs, and the unemployment rate has dropped dramatically. He did exactly what he promised to do, and he did it without laying off State employees. That, somehow, pissed off a lot of people, and brought about a recall election.

Okay, well, he made the unions mad. The unions want their benefits at the expense of the taxpayer, and Walker indicated they needed to pay a small portion. Taking on the unions, however, has unleashed a giant tantrum, and the hard left has been doing whatever they can to get rid of one of Wisconsin's best governors in the State's history.

Today was that recall election, and the vote was essentially along party lines. . . sort of.

In a big blow to the unions, it looks like Walker will hold on to his governorship, and the election was not as close as the liberal media tried to portray. Walker is winning by a pretty significant margin.  Is this a microcosm of what America feels nationwide?

Union membership has dropped in Wisconsin. The actions of the unions sent a message to the people, and the people are fed up with the unions. Taxpayers can't afford to pay the union imposed pensions anymore. The unions are being perceived as a negative against state finances, and that perception is on the money.

As a principled conservative, Walker took on the issues of debt and deficits, and he has proven that conservatism works. Responsible fiscal policies are what's needed. And if you hold the line, with conservative principles, like Walker, you can prevail.

Walker's win is a huge message. America is watching, and conservatism has proven the victor. This move to eliminate the divide caused by the unions, and the hard left, had to happen in Wisconsin, and now it has to happen nationwide. This is a lesson for America.

For election results, the Huffington Post (believe it or not) has a great map.
