ARE WE CONSERVATIVES CURSED?

This is a great quote that drives home a point about a personality in our presidential election. A person who is devoid of moral consciousness and principles is doom to shrink. That he will in the eyes of the electorate. He does not have the constitution or character to lead our great nation and the free world.

This is a post of a Liberal (Marxist/Progressive) friend of mine. He is a fine person and if I were cornered on a battlefield, I would want him with me. Unfortunately, he is suffering from post-debate depression. I asked him what he meant by the above post. His comment was “people with strong moral character will not shrink when from their beliefs when challenged.” He said Romney was not moral because he has reversed his positions on different issues. When asked if Obama was immoral for the same reason he said no because Obama’s changes are different from Romney’s, but would not or could not explain the difference, other than my friend agrees with Obama and disagrees with Romney. When I asked him if I was immoral because he does not agree with me, he said that was different as well.



This should not be surprising. It is not unusual for these people to use an admirable quote, and then in the next sentence do just the opposite of what the quote said was admirable. The ironic part of this, is when questioned, the will rationalize and justify their actions as would a small child who was just caught with their hand in the cookie jar. They never impose a double standard, according to them, because they set the standards of morality and goodness. When Bush increased the debt, he was unpatriotic and immoral, but when Obama makes Bush look like a pauper, he is doing what is good for the country. I do not see the difference, but then we conservatives do not impose double standards.

We conservatives also have a different set of rules than do the Marxist/Progressives. The Marxist/Progressives have always believed that any means that must be used are justified if the end is the one they wanted. We cursed conservatives believe the end is only justified if the means we used to attain the end were just. We conservatives have always believed rules are established to be followed by all participants. Marxists/Progressives have always believed rules are established to start the game, but are guidelines at best and should never be allowed to cause a defeat.

We see examples that prove this premise every day. One that clearly exemplifies this fact is how the nominations to the Supreme Court of Robert Bork and Ruth Bader Ginsburg were treated by two factions. Both nominees certainly had the intellect and character to be nominated to our high court. Bork’s beliefs were considered conservative and Ginsburg’s certainly are far to the left. These are two upstanding and outstanding people with opposite beliefs. How were the nominations treated?

Within 45 minutes of the announcement of Justice Bork’s nomination, Ted Kennedy went on the floor of the United States Senate and said this:

"Robert Bork's America is a land in which women would be forced into back-alley abortions, blacks would sit at segregated lunch counters, rogue police could break down citizens' doors in midnight raids, schoolchildren could not be taught about evolution, writers and artists could be censored at the whim of the Government, and the doors of the Federal courts would be shut on the fingers of millions of citizens.”

This was the opening salvo and only became more scurrilous and vitriolic. Joe Biden, who was head of the Judiciary Committee, prepared a brief called the “Biden Report.” Bork later said in his best-selling] bookThe Tempting of America that the report "so thoroughly misrepresented a plain record that it easily qualifies as world class in the category of scurrility.”

The ends did justify the means so far as the Marxist/Progressives were concerned. Bork was not confirmed.

When Justice Ginsburg came before the Senate Judiciary Committee she was treated with respect, even though she declined to answer many questions. Senator Hatch, before the vote to have her nomination go to the Senate floor, said that elections do have consequences and this is how rules say the game should be played. Ginsburg is now on the Supreme Court in spite of her saying the Constitution is a guideline and has used foreign law as a basis for some of her rulings.

The current campaign is another example to prove my premise. My friend is only one example who will not allow rational thought or facts get in the way of his desperation. The campaign of Obama has deteriorated to school yard antics. That would be, I cannot defend what I have done, but you are a liar, liar with pants on fire. Just like my friend, David Axelrod was asked on a Sunday news show to explain how Romney would be a liar and Obama would not. Axelrod’s response was the same as my friends. The situations are different, or in other words, I cannot explain how it would be different. We must remember, this is how they play the game. When they are desperate, rules apply to others but not to them.

If the polls continue in the same direction, the vitriol will become louder and shriller. A good and moral man has already been called a liar, a felon and a murderer. My friend and the others justify this because they do not agree with his policies. I am not sure what else can be said, but I have faith in the Marxist/Progressives making this look kind. Axelrod has just begun. They cannot help themselves. That is who they are. That is their DNA.

We conservatives have never played by the Marxist/Progressive standards. We have lost many times. The American way lost when Bork was not confirmed and Ginsburg was. The American way will lose if Obama is re-elected. We conservatives will continue obeying rules. This is who we are. This is our DNA.
