My friend came to me and said, "I'm a Democrat, now."
Excuse me? Was Albert defecting to the other side? Had he gone against a lifetime of Republican voting, save for his one foray into the third party idiocy when he voted for Perot?
"I began receiving Democrat Party mailers, and nothing from the Republican Party. I didn't understand what was going on. I am a registered Republican. Or at least I have been since I could first vote. Suddenly, I am receiving stuff from the Democrats, so I check into it, and I am listed as being registered with the Democrat Party. I never did that."
"Perhaps," I suggested, "it is because you are Mexican. You know how bad the Democrats want the Hispanic vote."
"Whatever it is," he said, "I didn't do it."
The interesting thing is that the Democrats have been accusing the GOP of voter fraud and voter suppression, when in reality it is them that is doing what they can to illegally gain votes.
A friend calls it the "ACORN-Effect."
The Democrats will stop at nothing to try and tilt the election in their favor. They have no record to run on. The Obama Presidency has been an unmitigated disaster. So, if they can't pull off the re-election fairly, they have to cheat to win. The voting fraud, and death threats to Romney supporters, is only the beginning. The Democrats are pulling no punches. They are skewing the polls by over-sampling Democrats and under-sampling independents. The liberal media is marching around acting like the election is over and Obama has already won when in reality if the 2010 numbers are taken into account, and if the sampling included those numbers, Romney is ready for a massive landslide win.
They do this in the hopes of depressing the Republican vote.
But voter fraud, and deceptive games, are not enough. They are trying to pull on Romney what they accomplished against George W. Bush. Through their "hate-Bush" campaign they turned a popular president into one of the most hated figures in government, simply through baseless attacks, and his lack of willingness to defend himself against the lies. It has gotten to the point where even Republicans are unwilling speak in a favorable manner about President Bush.
Was Bush a great President? No. Was he a very conservative President? Not usually. But, on 9-11-2001 when planes were flying into New York's World Trade Center, and the Pentagon, I would have preferred no other person as our Commander in Chief. And, under Bush, largely because of his tax policies, America prospered. It wasn't until after the Democrats gained control of Congress in 2007, that idiotic TARP program, the liberal policies of "everyone must own a home" largely accomplished with Democrat-backed programs like the Community Reinvestment Act, and the unwillingness of the Democrats to regulate the GSEs when the Republicans in 2003 were warning that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were positioned to fail, that everything fell apart. Then, with Obama in office, and the Democrats in full control of Congress, everything got worse - specifically because of the policies of the Democrat Party.
Now, Obama is running against the Republicans, as if they have been in power for the last four years. But that's not enough, so now the party of the jackass is also launching "hate-Bush" style attacks against Romney, along with deception, and lies.
Remember David Foster, the steel worker that blamed Romney for the death of his wife when, according to him, Bain Capital destroyed GST Steel, causing a massive loss of jobs?
The Obama campaign team is ready to deploy Mr. Foster again.
Never mind that Bain Capital actually extended the life of GST. The company was doomed to fail, and Bain Capital took over the failing company in the hopes of saving it. That is how Investment Capital companies make a profit. They save companies that are in trouble, and then make a profit off of when they turn the troubled companies around and get them back in the black. Sometimes, the risk results in returning the troubled companies to being prosperous, and sometimes the companies just can't be turned around and the attempt fails.
When Bain Capital grabbed a hold of GST Steel, the steel company was in severe trouble. The investments by Bain Capital extended the life of GST. In other words, Bain Capital did not cause the employees of GST to lose their jobs. Bain enabled them to hang on to their jobs longer. In the end, however, even with Bain's investment and policies, GST failed.
Mitt Romney has a successful business record, and a personal life, nearly as pure as the wind-driven snow, so the Obama Campaign cannot simply find things to expose, and then spin them a little extra to convince the voters to run away from Romney. They have to make things up. They have to lie. Unfortunately for the GOP candidate for President, there are those out there that fall for the deception.
Which brings us back to David Foster, the GST Steelworker, who accused Romney of killing his wife.
The problem is, aside from the lie about Bain Capital's dealings with GST Steel, the lie about how losing his job caused his wife to die (her death came much later, and she had health insurance through her own employer), and the fact that Romney wasn't even with Bain anymore when the alleged happenings occurred, but also David Foster is lying about being a steelworker. He was not an employee of GST Steel. He was a union organizer.
The facts aren't important to the liberal democrats. The Democrats don't care about the truth. Their only concern is holding on to their power, and making government bigger, and they are willing to lie to do it.
The timing of launching David Foster against the GOP candidate is in line with the first presidential debate on October third. But Foster is not the only false employee they'll have in place for this incredible campaign of personal destruction against Romney. The Democrats also plan to unleash multiple ex-employees of companies owned by Bain.
The gauntlet has been released. The question is, will Romney call the deception for what it is, or will be he be passive like Bush was, and let the liberal left direct the public conversation regarding this presidential race?
The answer to that question means the difference between a massive landslide by Romney, or a close race that Romney could actually wind up losing.

You can pretty much count on O looking over at Mitt and accusing him of these things on Wednesday. Which is why Mitt has to do that to the Li'l President first on his miserable failure of a record. That way the smears will look like petty retaliation rather than successful diversions designed to leave Romney spluttering impotently.
