Turkey and Syria Exchange Fire

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Turkey and Syria have now exchanged artillery fire for four days as the battle between the rebels and Assad's government forces rages at the border.  As Syria works to crush the rebels, some of the violence has crossed the border and Turkish civilians have been killed.  In response, Turkey has deployed troops to its southern border with Syria.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has verbally warned Syria not to test Turkey's "limits and determination," indicating that Turkey is not bluffing when the leadership says they will not tolerate such acts.
