According to Steven Ertelt of LifeNews.com, this year is the 4th straight year that Obama's Thanksgiving Resolution Doesn’t Thank God - the fundamental reason why Thanksgiving is observed in the first place.
In 1789, President George Washington issued a proclamation that set forth the main reason for Thanksgiving, saying, “Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be. That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks – for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation.”
President Abraham Lincoln, who made Thanksgiving a national holiday, also understood the religious context upon which it was founded.
“It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart and one voice, by the whole American people. I do therefore invite my fellow-citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens,” he wrote.
But, to President Obama, Thanksgiving is about food and football, according to his official remarks as distributed by the White House.
“For us, like so many of you, this is a day full of family and friends; food and football. It’s a day to fight the overwhelming urge to take a nap – at least until after dinner,” Obama said.
In other the third paragraph of the Thanksgiving message, Obama moves on to politics.
“That’s especially important this year. As a nation, we’ve just emerged from a campaign season that was passionate, noisy, and vital to our democracy. But it also required us to make choices – and sometimes those choices led us to focus on what sets us apart instead of what ties us together; on what candidate we support instead of what country we belong to,” he said.
Obama eventually mentions blessings and later, in passing, says, “Because there but for the grace of God go I.” The rest of the message is a nice one about helping the hurricane victims, honoring our troops, and bringing Americans together. But nowhere in the text is there an actual thanks to the Lord for his blessings on the nation or a recognition that that is the reason for Thanksgiving.
Perhaps he needs to become more familiar with the writings of George Washington, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin, and less familiar with the writings of Saul Alinsky and Karl Marx.

In response to two recent verbal assaults on children and complaints by their mothers, after words of the Declaration of Independence were quoted to the children, the Obama Administration, bypassing the gridlocked House and Senate, has, by Executive Order 1,666, enacted new Federal Hate Crimes rules banning the publication by any means (orally, in print, or via the Internet) of the sentences of the Declaration Of Independence that referred to a so-called “Creator” or so-called “Divine Providence
Under the new Federal Regulations – which the Administration has said is not a law but simply an exercise of executive power under the Constitution’s Commerce Clause - these words of the Declaration will be covered over with a bar of opaque archival polymer from now on whenever the Declaration is publicly displayed:
. . . the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them . . . .We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness
….appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions
….with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence
The Government Printing Office has been directed to expunge these words from all further printed government documents which cite the Declaration. Copies of the full Declaration as promulgated in 1776 will be made available only for research once a researcher has established the scope and purpose of the research to the satisfaction of the Social Sciences Subcommittee of the National Endowment For the Humanities.
In addition, for a first offense of public recitation or display of these words, a fine of $1000 will be imposed and the offenders will undergo a program of sensitivity training. For a second or subsequent offense, there will be the possibility of prison time.
With his AB (anti-bullying) Czar, Gloria Allgreen, at his side, President Obama, still basking in the glow of election to an unprecedented third term in office under the recently-amended Constitution, proclaimed “Now we can truly say that, with hope in all our good people, we have begun the move forward to erase the last vestiges of bullying based on hate-based religion from our society. Those who cling to their religion will no longer be free to hurt citizens with faith-based assaults.”
In a related story, experts at the Smithsonian Institution have discovered that since 1781 the Constitution has mistakenly been misinterpreted to end with the phrase “year of Our Lord,” clearly a reference to the savior, Jesus Christ; when what the phrase really says is “year of Our Word,” referring to the momentous words written by the Founding Parents. Unfortunately, due to an acid spill during scheduled periodic review of the document for deterioration, these words were permanently deleted from the Constitution and the National Archives cannot predict when it will again go on public display.
