Barack Obama Quietly Sworn in for Second Presidential Term

The United States Constitution requires that the President of the United States being sworn into office must take place before noon on the January 20 after an election.  The public inauguration planned for Monday is for show, and for the Obamas, yet another reason to have a party.

The preparations for the inauguration are making it look more like a coronation, than an inauguration.

Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. administered the oath this morning in the White House Blue Room, overlooking the South Lawn. Vice President Biden was sworn in earlier in the day.
