Judge Tramples Religious Liberties Of Colorado Cake Maker

by JASmius

The Gerroldite winning streak continues:

A Colorado judge says a baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a [homosexual]ceremony must serve [queer] ["]couples["] despite his religious beliefs.

Friday's order from administrative law judge Robert N. Spencer says Masterpiece Cakeshop in suburban Denver will face fines if it continues to turn away [queer] ["]couples["] who want to buy cakes for their wedding celebrations.

Because, you know, Denver.  Makes me want to see the Seahawks eradicate the Broncos in the Super Bowl even more, except that in this context, you know, Seattle.  The last place to which Mr. Spencer would want to flee for justice.

But you know what?  I could buy this ruling - provided that there were so few cake shops for the plaintiffs to choose from that Mr. Spencer's disinclination to dishonor his LORD and Savior by legitimizing their perversion would have actually "damaged" them.  Although even then, I'm not aware of any constitutional right to a wedding cake, much less one covered in "chocolate" icing.

But it is inconceivable that the plaintiffs couldn't have found a cake supplier willing & eager to cater to them in a metropolis of almost three million people.  Consequently, when Mr. Spencer politely declined, they should have simply shrugged, maybe shaken their heads, and gone to another bakery.

This tells me that Mr. Spencer and his Christian faith were specifically targeted for just this outcome.  To force their values on him upon threat of economic destruction.

I don't know Mr. Spencer's financial condition, and I make it a point never to tell people what to do with their resources.  If his is a small business, he's probably dropped a considerable sum on legal fees already, and may not be able to afford to continue the fight.  But if he is, and I were he, I would appeal, if for no other reason than to make this exercise in homophilic petty tyranny as visible as possible.

If we're all going to be forcibly shoved and herded "up the old dirt road," it may as well be with our eyes wide open.
