GOP Pushes S.T.O.P. Act To Limit Obama's Abuse Of Executive Actions

by JASmius

Bait for impeachment, perhaps?

Well, it's a sign of GOP life, so there's that much to say for it.  I wish I could say more, but (1) there's no way the S.T.O.P. Act would ever get a vote in the Senate, at least this year, and (2) there's legitimate doubt after last week's debt ceiling el foldo whether Speaker Boehner would even allow a vote on it in the House.

Of course it would never make it into law under any circumstances, but that's what makes it impeachment bait - it throws down the gauntlet to Barack Obama by forcing him to either give back the Article I/Section I power he's stolen from Congress by signing the bill, or acknowledge his high crimes and misdemeanors by vetoing it.

In short, it's a publicity stunt for now.  But in the next Congress, with a Republican Senate to go along with a Republican House?  Then we shall see.
