As the government works to eliminate small farms that produce organic, real foods, the growth of the Genetically Modified Organisms food industry is going through the roof. The purpose of GMOs is supposed to be to produce superior foods, but the side effects have been disastrous, and dangerous.
GMOs are created by modifying the genes of a species, along with the introduction of foreign genes or DNA. The stated purpose is so that specific traits can be improved, enabling higher yields, increasing the nutritional value, and protecting the food from pests without chemicals. The claim is that they make life easier for humans. They claim that your well-being is their interest.
In the latest of a huge string of evidence regarding the dangers of GMOs, a pig farmer in Denmark admitted that Monsanto's Roundup Ready soybeans harmed his herd and he is now calling for a ban on all transgenic feed treated with glyphosate. The sick pigs lost their appetite and developed diarrhea, among other symptoms, after he fed them genetically-modified (GM) soybeans treated with Roundup.
The farmer switched to the GMO when his non-GM feed stock ran dry. Almost immediately, his pigs began developing stomach ulcers and bloat, a side effect also seen in cows and other livestock fed GMOs. The switch also caused many of Pedersen's pigs to lose their appetite and develop loose stools, which in turn resulted in lower milk yield.
Even non-GMO products run the risk of having some traces of glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup. Governments around the world have continually reassured the public that these trace levels are safe and do not substantially affect the end product.
The Dutch pig farmer disagrees. According to the pig farmer, GMOs have disastrous effects on his pigs, and on humans.
"Here are my deformed piglets that I have from the pig house," said the pig farmer during an interview, pointing to his farrow. "Typically the deformities are cranial and spinal. This is one that was born with a hole in the head between the eyes."
Once he switched back to the non-GM feed, his litter experienced a dramatic recovery.
He works to expose the immense dangers of GM soy and Roundup, which are surely having similar effects in other farmers' herds. He has even sent tissue samples of his previously affected pigs to labs for analysis, revealing the presence of Monsanto's chemicals at disturbing levels.
