Murrieta's Concerned Citizens

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The 2014 Election, in the City of Murrieta, was a disgusting election, to say the least.  A power structure run by City Manager Rick Dudley, and local elitist Rick Gibbs, was under assault by four conservatives, with three seats to fill.  Nobody doubted that Rick Gibbs would retain his power, but the fear by the elitist oligarchy was that two of the four conservatives, local activist Diana Serafin, local conservative republican Jon Ingram, a retired Marine Officer Brian Barton, or a citizen that attends constitution classes named Kent Leeper, may win the two other seats.  Combined with Harry Ramos, who already inhabits a seat on the council, a conservative majority could bring down the power structure, and collapse the stranglehold Dudley and Gibbs has on the city.

Ingram won a seat, Gibbs won his, and Alan "Drunken Stupor" Long somehow, despite all of the media attention regarding his idiotic DUI injury accident, won his seat back.

Long resigned, but did not pull out of the race.  He knew there was enough uninformed voters out there that would vote him back into office, despite his potential prison term of up to nine years for his senseless and disappointing felony DUI injury accident.  The question now, is, will he remain on the dais, or resign with the hope that the power players of Murrieta can play the game well enough to replace him with another Rick Dudley automaton?

Before the election a concerned citizen sent out an email shaming these people, recognizing the truth in ways that few have.  Here is what that concerned citizen had to say about the Murrieta election before the voters went to the polls. . .

Dear Council Members,

This email is to express to you and by "You" I mean Rick Gibbs, Randon Lane, Gene Wunderlich, and Alan Long (Although he is Not a councilmember any longer he still needs to hear what I have to say).

I am absolutely EMBARRASSED by All of your behaviors over the past several months regarding various topics and "Situations"!

Let's get this party started with Rick Gibbs, Randon Lane, and Gene Wunderlich...You should all be ashamed for Not denouncing Ex-Mayor Alan Long's deplorable actions of Drunk Driving!! Not only did he make a Conscious decision to drink, knowing he was going to get into his truck and drive aimlessly around town to "fix" signs but he then caused physical and mental anguish to 4 young girls of our community. That is the highest form of disregard for not only his Office as councilman that We elected him too but also complete disregard for the safety and well being of the citizens of Murrieta and ultimately the citizens Did pay the price. Each one of you should have immediately asked for his resignation instead of hiding in the shadows waiting for the smoke to clear or should I say waiting for the drunken fog to lift? Alan Long is not just a council member of our city but a first responder who knows the dangers of drinking and driving and should be held to a higher standard than any normal person. The fact that None of you are outraged that he would continue on in this election shows that you Each have ulterior motives. I can promise you this, that if you intend to use Alan Long's seat to try and appoint who you think should sit in that chair, then I will rally all the people that support my views to come down on the council! You will Not treat us like ignorant little people you can step all over. Rick Gibbs and his puppets, including Rick Dudley have been doing this to the citizens of Murrieta for years and we will NOT stand for it any longer.

RICK GIBBS: The most ridiculous and selfish thing you could have ever done was say these words "Alan Long grew up in this community. He's served for 25 years here. He's a fine mayor who's done a lot of good work here. He said he was not intoxicated and I'm more than willing to take his word for it that he was not intoxicated."

I can only conclude that since your Long, Gibbs, Berger signs have come down all over the city that you've decided to jump ship?!? What a decent human being you are! You could care less about those poor kids, or Alan Long...you only care about YOUR election. Your first response should Not have been about Alan Long but should have been of concern for those girls. I can only say that for myself "You will NOT be getting my vote" and for the rest of Murrieta I hope they are wise too! You have sat on the council for years preventing this city from any real growth unless it benefits you and it's high time you sat on the other side of the dais for a change and let real people get the work done! You are a disgrace and this Alan Long disaster has brought out your true colors and they are Not Red, White, and Blue!

RANDON LANE: One of the most self centered people to grace our council with motives set so far ahead of the pace it's hard to keep track. I find it completely interesting that you have decided to say nothing but instead sit back in the shadows asking potential candidate elects questions about their future voting habits. Are you trying to make another play for a Mayoral change? But then again that wouldn't make much since if you want to run as a Mayor yourself in 2016 for the upcoming elections. If I were you I would sit back and take a break from all the scheming and plotting and maybe, I don't know...Worry About Your City!! I've heard of how you treat citizens with so little respect and it appears that after the last council meeting you also treat your fellow council members the same. I'm beginning to wonder if you and Mr. Gibbs are just prejudice since I never see you treat each other with hostilities or disrespect but instead speaking over Mr. Ramos and of course who can forget Mr. Gibbs deplorable behavior toward him as well several months back. Is that the problem?? Do you and Mr. Gibbs have a problem with minorities, especially those who sit on the dais next to you? Things that make you go hmmmm! Just because you are Not currently up for re-election don't think that all your past and soon-to-be scheming won't be closely scrutinized!

GENE WUNDERLICH: Everyone's initial reaction to this name..."Who"? I've read some disturbing comments you've made on FB regarding other candidates and how you are choosing to NOT get involved in this election. Really?!? Maybe instead of denouncing Mr. Ramos for doing what any normal human being would do in the Alan Long case which is ASK FOR HIS RESIGNATION...you should have been doing the same but truth be told you don't represent the people anyway. You were another power play by Randon and don't even represent a fraction of Murrieta but instead only the 3 councilmen who voted you into power. Maybe a little loyalty would suit you but then again I guess there is something about that council chair that causes men to become turn coats and think they rule the world. But as for your comments of Not getting involved with the race but then turning around and bashing candidates...way to go Mr. Wunderlich a true man of your word. If I was a man with your past I wouldn't want to be so forthcoming with my opinions of other people's behavior. I guess it's a good thing that no one really cares what you say since they don't even know who you are...But I do...Lane, Gibbs, and Berger's puppet. BTW, thank goodness endorsements don't mean much because using your connection with the Southwest Riverside County Association of Realtors to endorse Berger was just another puppet move!

ALAN LONG: Not much to say here as you've embarrassed yourself and your poor family to the point of no return. All that is left to say is that before this election concludes tomorrow "YOU SHOULD WITHDRAW FROM THE ELECTION" and save our great city the embarrassment of another resignation speech once you are convicted of Felony DUI.

HARRY RAMOS: The only one with the cajones to do the right thing and ask for Alan Long's resignation. For that I and many others like myself "Thank You"! True leadership is Not caring what others think of you or your actions but doing what if Right! Looking forward to a true Mayor this year and many Murrietians are behind you! Make us proud!
