Islamic State uses Christian Churches as Torture Chambers

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Islam and liberal left progressive Democrats have something in common.  They both hate Christianity.  While Democrats are restricted to only trying to silence Christians through media, in schools, and their annual attack on Christmas, Islam takes their hatred of Christianity to a new level at every turn.  The bombing of Christian schools by Muslim jihadists is a regular story on the newswire, but now ISIS has added a new wrinkle to the psychopathic hatred by Islam against the followers of Jesus Christ.  In Iraq and Syria, the Islamic State is turning Christian churches into dungeons and torture chambers, while stripping the places of worship of anything they can sell on the black market.

The items stolen from these churches, and sold by the Islamic State, are often priceless ancient relics.

"ISIS has a stated goal to wipe out Christianity,” Jay Sekulow, of the American Center for Law and Justice and the author of "Rise of ISIS: A Threat We Can't Ignore," said. “This why they are crucifying Christians -- including children -- destroying churches and selling artifacts. The fact is, this group will stop at nothing to raise funds for its terrorist mission.”

As ISIS broadens its self-proclaimed caliphate, the jihadists target Christians, and anyone who dares to reject sharia law.  The destruction of revered Christian sites and monuments have been ongoing, in an attempt to eliminate any sign of their opposition, and more specifically, any remnant of the Christian Faith.

Last July, ISIS militants used sledgehammers to destroy the tomb of Jonah in Mosul. Around the same time, they were destroying Sunni shrines and mosques in the northern province of Ninevah, including the Shia Saad bin Aqeel Husseiniya shrine in the city of Tal Afar and the al-Qubba Husseiniya, as well as Christian churches in Syria. The group follows a strict interpretation of the Sunni faith which is against idolatry of anything other than Allah. ISIS has also threatened to destroy the holy sight of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

The selling off of Christian artifacts is believed to be both for the purpose of making money, and to culturally cleanse the region.

Since the end of Saddam Hussein's rule, the small Christian population in Iraq, who was left alone for the most part under the Iraqi dictator, have since experienced heavy persecution from the Islamic State terrorist organization as the faction sweeps through the region, and takes control of much of the land.
