NFL Week 14 Kickoff

by JASmius

As you can tell, I'm not a Bears fan, but I pretty much loathe the Cowboys.  And not just because they beat The Champs at Century Link earlier in the season.

Seems hard to believe now.  On that day Jerry Jones' team was clearly better.  But no more.  Currently Dallas is #23 in my power rankings, while Chicago is #25.  The Cowboys have the better offense (#8 overall, #3 in rushing versus the Bears' #20 and #26 on the ground).  Both passing games are tepid at best.  Both clubs suck defensively (Dallas #22, Chicago #26).  So you would figure that if Jason Garrett instructs Tony Romo to keep handing the ball off to DeMarco Murray and throwing only when he absolutely has to, and nothing to the sidelines, and all underneath, Dallas might actually have a chance of winning a ninth game this season.

But a check of the calendar reveals that it's....December.  And for Tony Romo, December is the month for choking and tossing one pick-six after another.  Plus, the whole country saw what the Eagles did to them on Thanksgiving.  It seems like TR is warming up for another stretch collapse.

And yet, and yet, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is almost Romo-esque in his propensity for throwing away games as well.  This could very well be a game that winds up in a tie because neither team wants it.

But somebody will probably win it, almost by default, so why not go with the team that can actually run the ball?

Dallas*
Chicago (+3.5)

Besides, for some odd reason, the Cowboys seem to play better on the road than they do in that billion dollar airplane hanger they call home.

But I'll be rooting for Chicago, because the 'boys have that pesky tiebreaker over us.

And, you know, a grizzly is a lot cooler mascot than Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal.
