Tuesday's swarm of earthquakes in North Texas included three that were a 3-point magnitude or greater. The quakes knocked items off the walls and shelves, and were even strong enough to create cracks in a few ceilings.
The list of nine earthquakes in Texas on Tuesday are as follows:
7:37 a.m. 2.3 magnitude
3:10 p.m. 3.5 magnitude
6:52 p.m. 3.6 magnitude
8:11 p.m. 2.9 magnitude
8:12 p.m. 2.7 magnitude
9:54 p.m. 1.7 magnitude
10:05 p.m. 2.4 magnitude
11:02 PM 1.6 magnitude
12:59 AM 3.1 magnitude
According to the United States Geological Service, the quakes that struck near Irving weren't necessarily aftershocks, but may have been independent, and if they include the nine earthquakes on Tuesday, there have been 24 or more earthquakes in the area since November 1, 2014.
The third earthquake, which struck closer to Dallas-Fort Worth, is only the third in the DFW area, since 2008, to register a 3.6 magnitude.
Though Tuesday’s quakes were the “largest since the earthquakes started happening there in the last year,” the size of the earthquakes remain small, leaving little or no damage.
