Temecula Constitution Class: Houses of Congress

Instructor: Douglas V. Gibbs

We have two Houses of Congress, established by Article I, Section 1 of the United States Constitution, and detailed in Article I, Sections 2 and 3.  In 1897, when the Constitution was debated and written, the intent was for the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate to be very different from each other.  Over time, largely due to the 17th Amendment, the differences between the two Houses of Congress have diminished, and the dynamics of our system of government has been damaged as a result.  How are the Houses of Congress supposed to be different, and why?  Learn tonight in the Temecula Constitution Class beginning at 6:30 pm, at Faith Armory, 41669 Winchester Road, just west of the I-15 and Jefferson Avenue.
