An Obama Anti-Iran ICBM Shield?

by JASmius

Above is the anti-Iran ICBM shield whose plug Barack Obama pulled almost as soon as he was sworn in in 2009 as part of his "reset" fellation of Vladimir Putin.  Ever since then he's done everything in his power - from allowing the June 2009 "Green" Revolution to be crushed by the mullahs, to the veritable nuclear weapons aid he's been providing Tehran for over six years - to guarantee that the Islamic Empire of Iran becomes the mightiest strategic nuclear power on Earth....

....and now comes....this?:

Barack Obama will re-engage with Gulf State allies at a summit next week on a proposal for a common ballistic missile defense system that could act as a deterrent to a "potentially" nuclear armed Iran, a U.S. official confirms to CNN on Wednesday.

Building up that common defense infrastructure and architecture for the Gulf region will be a key part of next week's summit which is scheduled to take place at the White House and Camp David, the official added.

The official said that the goal would be for the Gulf states to operate the missile defense system themselves, with the U.S. providing advisory and technical support.

It's not the same thing, obviously.  This missile defense system would be only for short-range missiles, not MRBMs or ICBMs.  It would only protect the Sunni Arab states, not Israel, Europe, or the U.S.  And, it goes without saying, we wouldn't be operating it, because heaven forbid that we "offend" the Muzzies with our stinky "infidel" presence.  But still....why?  The whole point of Obama's Middle East policy, as they've openly boasted, is to anoint Iran the regional hegemon and (junior) "partner" with them.  All the heretofore quasi-allied Sunni Gulf states and emirates were heaved overboard.  So why pretend to reverse course and "re-engage" with them now?

My best guess?  O doesn't want the Saudis to obtain their own nukes from Pakistan so that the mullahs maintain their regional nuclear semi-monopoly and the Israelis remain fully exposed.  Which suggests that this so-called missile "shield" will be woefully inadequate to its purported task by design.  Anything to minimize the possibility of Tehran regional, and eventually global, ambitions from being thwarted.

Will Riyadh buy that swindle?  I wouldn't, if I were them.

UPDATE: Aaaaaaand they're not.  And neither are the Turks.
