I believe we owe you all an apology. It appears that we have never written so much as a pixel about the First Annual Mohammed Art Exhibit & Contest, sponsored by Pamela Geller and the American Freedom Defense Initiative, and held in Garland, Texas, in response to January's "Stand With Mohammed In Honor & Respect" conference. The latter of which, it should be noted, did NOT result in bomb threats, shootings, OR fatalities:
The event was held Sunday evening at the Curtis Caldwell Center and showcased both “historical” and “contemporary” adaptations of the Islamic prophet, boasting a $10,000 prize to the winner of the contest.
Islamic groups had publicly condemned the event stating that it was "blasphemous" and "disrespectful towards Muhammad," however the artwork is not what is making headlines.
Sunday evening reports began to circulate that a security officer was injured after a vehicle with two occupants pulled up to the event and opened fire around 7 pm. Conflicting reports by participants of the event began to surface where individuals claimed hearing from two to twenty gunshots outside the entrance of the Curtis Caldwell Center.
The good news? The fatalities were the two do-in-yourself jihadists. The bad news? They got the "Draw The Prophet" event shut down, at least for that evening. More good news? It could have been a lot worse:
A former terror suspect has been named as one of the gunmen shot dead by police after two attackers blasted an unarmed security guard in the ankle during an anti-Islam art contest in Texas on Sunday night.
Two heavily-armed men, who are believed to have been carrying explosives, were killed by police after opening fire outside the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas, at around 7pm during a "controversial" event where caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad were being displayed.
A senior FBI official has identified one of the men as Elton Simpson, who was previously the subject of a terror investigation, according to ABC News.
He had been convicted of lying to federal agents about his plans to travel to Africa five years ago, but a judge ultimately ruled it could not be proved that the was heading there to join a terror group.
After his identity emerged, FBI agents and a bomb squad swarmed Simpson’s apartment in north Phoenix, Arizona and used a robot to carry out the first sweep of his home, the channel reported. The second gunman’s identity is not yet known.
The dhimmidiot news? Guess who's taking the heat for this Islamic Fundamentalist attack:
The last bit of good news, of course, is that Miss Geller wasn't brooking or tolerating Obamedia nonsense. "There is a war on [non-Muslim, but especially Christian] free speech....I’m not responsible for the violence conducted by others… It’s outrageous that this would even be the morally inverted view of the media, that somehow because we drew a cartoon that two gunmen with AK-47s tried to storm the building and shoot up innocent people, and somehow they’re not responsible?"
That's exactly the case. Just ask yourself how the media would have covered two Christian gunmen trying to shoot up the "Stand With Mohammed" conference; somehow I doubt they'd have taken the Muzzies to task for being too "provocative" of Christian sensibilities. Or consider all the slurs and affronts and insults that Christians have to take from these very same filthbags on a daily basis, and yet the Brethren don't come after them with Uzis and suicide bombs.
And Miss Geller knows it. In fact, there are some who are suggesting that she helped stage this event to elicit precisely this reaction as an illustration of the gaping difference in terms of tolerance and civility between Christians and Muslims. And while I don't think that was her primary motivation, I'm sure this scenario had to have crossed her mind, and she did not shrink from it.
Violent intolerance and hatred define Islamic Fundamentalism. Demonic mass-murderers are who and what these people are. Which is why not a single inch must ever be conceded to them. If they're going to conquer us, let them earn it the hard way; let us not bow the knee to them before the battle even begins.
Gellerhu Ackbar!
I've said the below in a couple other sites.
ReplyDeletePam Geller, the organizer of the event is a hero to me in so many ways
(and way hot to boot!). She stands steadfastly against the Radical
Muslim radicals as well as pointing out the genocide being carried out
against Christians as well as Jews by this scum. For this she is vilified and worse by
the powers that be. Her stand for Freedom of Speech and ideals has got
to be heeded by all.
Kudos to her as well as to the police who gunned down the radical scum.
