Why Isreal Preempted U.N. Gaza War "Report"

by JASmius

Remember Israel's preemptive release of its own report on last year's latest Gaza War with Hamas that set the record straight in anticipation of the United Nation's twisting it in the jihadists' favor?  The latter of which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu scorned as a "waste of time"?

The U.N. "report" has been issued, and it's as egregious an anti-Semitic smear as we all anticipated:

U.N. investigators said on Monday that Israeli and Palestinian militant groups committed grave abuses of international humanitarian law during the 2014 Gaza conflict that may amount to war crimes.

In a report after a year-long inquiry, they called on Israel to explain its "targeting decisions" to allow independent assessment of its attacks on the Gaza Strip, where they said 1,462 civilians were killed and thousands of homes destroyed.

The independent investigators, led by American Mary McGowan Davis, also condemned what they found were executions of alleged Palestinian "collaborators" with Israel by militants in Gaza, saying these killings appeared to constitute war crimes. [emphasis added]

I can explain Israel's "targeting decisions" quite easily: Hamas cached rocket and missile stockpiles in civilian areas of Gaza - neighboorhoods, schools, hospitals, as the Israelis have repeatedly demonstrated - in order to ensure that any IDF attempts to destroy the munitions being targeted on Israeli civilian population centers could not help but injure or kill "Palestinian" civilians.  Which is not all that unexpected, since Hamas is a terrorist group.  To say that Israel is guilty of "war crimes" if it defends itself from an enemy that hides behind and conceals themselves within "Palestinian" civilians as a matter of consciously and deliberately chosen strategy is to say that the Israelis are denied the right to self-defense that is set forth in Article 51 of the United Nations charter:

Nothing in the present Charter shall impair the inherent right of collective or individual self-defence if an armed attack occurs against a member of the United Nations, until the Security Council has taken the measures necessary to maintain international peace and security. [emphasis added]

Israel can't wait for the Security Council to take the measures necessary against Hamas to maintain Israeli peace and security because the Security Council refuses to take any measures against Hamas other than to be willingly used as the pro-jihadist/anti-Semitic instrument of Hamastani propaganda,

Yes, Obamunist Mary McGowan Davis did create the appearance of indicting Hamas as well, but only as cover for the U.N.'s ritualistic condemnation of Israel.  It's the moral equivalence that is the tiresomely predictable outrage of the U.N. "report," and the equally ritualistic refusal to acknowledge that that is precisely why Hamas hides behind "Palestinian" non-combatants.  How many times do I have to reiterate that life is about incentives, and if you incentivize one side in a conflict that is already religiously compelled to engage in tactics that are war crimes by definition, and disincentivize the other side that is civilized, does all it can possibly do to minimize collateral damage, but refuses to simply allow its own people to be butchered piecemeal, the Israeli-Hamas Gaza conflict is the result you're going to get?

In short, nothing has changed, because nothing at Turtle Bay ever changes.  Hamas is the "heroic defender of the oppressed Palestinian people," and Israel is the "warmongering occupier of Palestinian territory".  The Jews are, as Golda Meir once said, paraphrased, required to die so that the world might think better of them,

Thanks, "world," but they gave at the Holocaust.
