House To Impeach....IRS Commissioner

by JASmius

Lois Lerner is beyond their reach; defunding DOJ is beyond their courage; and impeaching Barack Obama is scientifically impossible.  But House Republicans have, amazingly, decided that IRS Commissioner John Koskinen might be a target they can actually take on.

Boy, are THEY in for a surprise:

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee introduced a resolution Tuesday to impeach IRS Commissioner John Koskinen over his actions in the Tea Party targeting scandal, including providing false information to Congress and the destruction of the emails of former supervisor Lois Lerner.

"Commissioner Koskinen violated the public trust," Chairman Jason Chaffetz of Utah-3 said. "He failed to comply with a congressionally issued subpoena, documents were destroyed on his watch, and the public was consistently misled.

"Impeachment is the appropriate tool to restore public confidence in the IRS and to protect the institutional interests of Congress," Chaffetz said. "This action will demonstrate to the American people that the IRS is under repair, and signal that executive branch officials who violate the public trust will be held accountable."

In the words of Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen, "Mighty strong words, runt.  You ready to back 'em up with more than a pie plate?"  I sure as heck hope so, because somebody has got to pay something for the blatantly illegal acts the Obama Regime committed in the 2012 election cycle to suppress the conservative vote via the IRS and bludgeon its way to a second term.  Will the House Judiciary Committee take up that resolution and launch a formal impeachment inquiry?  Would there be the GOP votes in the full House to impeach Koskinen?  Would their be the votes in the Senate to convict and remove him from the IRS?  The further you get into that progression, the less likely that paydirt looks.

But it's worth the effort.  And perhaps it's an actual sign of partisan life in the GOP not unlike their 1998 counterparts' decision to go ahead with Bill Clinton's impeachment following that year's underperforming midterm elections after which the Clinton White House went out of its way to taunt and sneer at congressional Republicans - "going too far" is the term that comes to mind.  Everybody knew that the Obama/Holder/Lynch DOJ's "investigation" of IRSgate was a risible sham; this week they tauntingly and sneeringly confirmed it.

Has The One finally gone too far?  Time will tell.  Good thing for him he's got a department store mannequin behind which to hide.
