A Rainy Day for a Funeral

By Douglas V. Gibbs

I suppose it is fitting that the sky is gray, and the air is drizzly, on this dark and mournful Tuesday.  Normally, the second day of the work week has me traveling to Beaumont to attend a political meeting, and record a radio program to be played on Saturday morning.  Today, however, is the day after the passing of a dear friend, Avi Davis.  As the clouds darken the morning sky, I am waiting; waiting in a parking lot for another friend to ride into Los Angeles with to attend the funeral of Avi Davis.

The American Freedom Alliance was Avi's baby.  He created the organization with the intent to defend and preserve Western values.  His passion for freedom, and the American System was contagious.   His efforts were relentless.  His giving nature knew no equal.

His death at the young age of 57 reminds us that life can be short, and tomorrow is no guarantee.  The sense of urgency to defend liberty must be constant.  The next generation is depending on us.  The future requires us to do what we can to preserve our constitutional republic, not only for ourselves, but for our children, and grandchildren, and those not yet born.

Avi Davis, through his American Freedom Alliance, offered to assist me with my efforts regarding the United States Constitution.  Now, the future of his organization is in question.  The lesson? We are going to have to orchestrate the opportunities for ourselves.  Carry on Avi's vision. Continue to fight the good fight.  Run the race. Preserve the republic.

I am sure many members of the American Freedom Alliance will be in attendance at Avi's funeral. He was widely appreciated.

One thing is for sure, we have lost a great warrior for freedom.
