This definitely constitutes "growth" in the papacy, but certainly not growth in the LORD:
Italian pro-life leaders are speaking out against Pope Francis' praise of former Italian Foreign Minister Emma Bonino as one of the nation's "forgotten greats," complaining that she is best known in the nation for her stance on legalizing abortion.
"How can the pope praise a woman that is best known in Italy for practicing illegal abortion and promoting abortion?" said Msgr. Ignacio Barreiro, who was until last year the head of the Rome office of Human Life International, reports the pro-life website LifeSiteNews.
In an interview with the Italian daily Corriere Della Serra, the Pope acknowledged that his praise, in which he compared her to historical figures such as Konrad Adenauer, who was the first post-World War II chancellor of Germany, and the famed statesman Robert Schuman, could be considered controversial.
However, she offered the best advice to Italy on Africa, said the pontiff, and commented that it is "people who think very differently from us. True, but never mind. We have to look at people, at what they do." [emphases added]

Bonino, a leading member of the Radical Party and former European Commissioner, though, is well known for having an abortion at the age of twenty-seven and then working with the Information Centre on Sterilization and Abortion, which was responsible for ten thousand abortions, notes LifeSiteNews. [emphases added]
So Miss Bonino is not just an abortion client, she's a militant provider as well. A mass-murderer. It seems to be her core cause and occupation. And all Francis has to say about that is "but never mind"? It' looks like he's studiously averting his moral eyes from what she's done and continues to do because he's such an enthusiastic promoter of what she "advised" regarding Africa - of which mass abortions have to have been a prominent part. And the strongly suggests that the Pope doesn't think all that differently from Miss Bonino on pretty much anything.
Which we already knew. It's just so gosh darn entertaining when he goes out of his way to confirm it.
