Settled science:
Geologists at the University of Cincinnati just wrapped up a three-year investigation of hydraulic fracturing and its impact on local water supplies.
The result? There’s no evidence — zero, zilch, nada — that fracking contaminates drinking water. Researchers hoped to keep these findings secret.
Why would a public research university boasting a top-100 geology program deliberately hide its work? Because, as lead researcher Amy Townsend-Small explained, “our funders, the groups that had given us funding in the past, were a little disappointed in our results. They feel that fracking is scary and so they were hoping our data could point to a reason to ban it.” [emphasis added]
The University of Cincinnati wasn't conducting scientific experimentation; they were contracting to provide opposition research, which they obviously were predisposed to "find" as well. And when they didn't, they buried it. Nice and neat.
If an institution of "higher learning" was contracted to do hydraulic fracturing research by the energy industry and they produced these same results, how do y'all think that would have been characterized by the media?
Yeah, I'd say that's about right.
About the only saving grace there is for the Bearcats is that they didn't just make bleep up and publish a fraudulent report. Which is about the only truly newsworthy aspect of this outrageous story.
Exit question: What does the Left have against cheap energy and jobs? Don't both help "the little guy" more than anybody else?
