Shooter Shot Near White House While President Obama was Golfing

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Of course, Barack Obama was on the golf course.  Where else would he be?  It's not like he has any interest in being in the Oval Office.

Though Obama wasn't working, the Secret Service was.

A Secret Service agent on Friday shot a man near the White House after he brandished a gun and refused orders to stop.

The man carrying a gun approached a checkpoint on E Street near the White House, and after he was given verbal commands to stop and drop the gun, and failed to comply, he was shot once by a Secret Service agent and taken into custody.  The suspect was shot in the abdomen.  Obama was golfing, and Vice President Joe Biden was secured in the White House complex during the incident.
"No one within or associated with the White House was injured, and everyone in the White House is safe and accounted for," a White House official said. "The President has been made aware of the situation."

"Uh, uh," I am sure Obama said with frustration in his eyes, "you interrupted my putt for this?"

The White House went into lockdown for an hour.  The suspect's vehicle was located near the shooting area.  At this point, nobody knows for sure as yet whether or not Obama was able to make that putt.
