Terrorist Bomb Explosion in Turkey

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Terrorists in Turkey have organized a successful car bomb attack. A passing truck driver died at the scene of the explosion.  Two soldiers were injured.

The car bomb was detonated by remote control, and was a strong enough blast to injure a truck driver in the area in a different vehicle.  The attack was at a guard post in front of the Gendarmarie Command building (Police Station) in the Omerli District.  The truck driver is in the hospital in serious condition.

The police facility that was attacked has taken extensive security measures against possible attacks andwas enclosed with concrete blocks in front of the building.  When the bomb exploded the concrete blocks prevented the blast from causing extensive damage.  The terrorists who were behind the explosion escaped after the attack was launched.  Investigators say the operation was a comprehensive operation that was well planned, and would be difficult to neutralize.
