Hillary Clinton: Tax The Middle Class, Marxist Ploy

By Douglas V. Gibbs

While campaigning in Omaha, Nebraska, Hillary Clinton called for raising taxes on the “middle class.” She received applause from those in attendance.

Clinton’s comment came amid broader Marxist-themed demagoguery about forcing “the wealthy” to “pay their fair share” of taxes.

In pursuit of economic equity, Karl Marx recognized two opposing factions: the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. The two groups, according to Marx, must be forced into economic equality regardless of creativity, effort, and labor. The strategy was to use the burden of excessive taxation and inflation to force the wealthy and the middle class to become members of the proletariat. Once broken of their greed for wealth, eventually the members of the bourgeoisie class are worn down, and extinguished.

Karl Marx said, “You must, therefore, confess that by “individual” you mean no other person than the bourgeois, than the middle-class owner of property. This person must, indeed, be swept out of the way, and made impossible…and the abolition of this state of things is called by the bourgeois, abolition of individuality and freedom! And rightly so. The abolition of bourgeois individuality, bourgeois independence, and bourgeois freedom is undoubtedly aimed at.”

Vladimir Lenin agreed. “The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.”

Marxist statism achieves equity by pushing people down, reducing their social and economic outcomes to the lowest common denominator.

Social Justice is the current, modern form of Marxist equity. Enforcement of equity can only be managed if the government is tyrannical, where people are unjustly treated differently by the law to force equity in overall status and outcome.

Ultimately, according to Karl Marx, the drive for equity is the history of class struggles. In history there are always two groups that stand in sharp opposition to each other. Therefore, to achieve equity, the classes must be set against each other. While in conflict, reasons the statist, the desire for harmony arises. The differences between the classes must be eliminated. And only government can achieve such a miracle. Therefore, it is reasoned, only by force of government can equity be achieved.

Statists like Hillary Clinton statist disregards the historical fact that in communal systems the “proletariat class” becomes lazy and greedy. Why work if you don’t have to? Why not demand all that can be gained from the wealthy, if they have more than they need? The wealthy must be forced to pay their fair share, for the less fortunate proletariat has unlimited needs.

If one cannot bring home the fruit of their labor, where is the incentive to engage in that labor? A collective society is an unnatural state. Natural Law encourages prosperity because a free people naturally wish to do as well as possible because they bring home the fruit of their own labor. When the individual is a part of a collective, and the items available are offered as an entitlement, the desire to take more than one should becomes prominent. The lower class becomes greedy for the fruit of the labors of the few remaining producers. The natural work ethic of those dependent upon government is destroyed. Eventually, those receiving government entitlements outnumber the laborers and the entrepreneurs, plunging the society into economic instability, and forcing the statist government to come to the rescue with dictatorial martial law.

F.A. Hayek wrote, “A claim for equality of material position can be met only by a government with totalitarian powers.”
