Trump's Plans for Gun Owners

There has been much discussion regarding what Trump plans to do regarding his stance on Guns.  Having received the NRA endorsement during his presidential campaign, conservatives have been hoping he would be willing to honor the Second Amendment.  According to reports, the Trump White House plans to call for the implementation of a national reciprocity law for licensed concealed carriers across the country. This will instruct States to recognize concealed carry permits from other States. With a Republican dominated Congress, both Houses will likely be more than happy than to move the bill through with ease.

The idea is very constitutional.  After all, not only is it unconstitutional for the federal government to have any law that infringes upon the right to keep and bear arms, but Article IV. of the United States Constitution instructs that between the States there must be full faith and credit regarding State Acts, Records and Judicial Proceedings, which includes licenses and certificates.  After all, isn't that the argument the leftists used regarding the requirement for all States to recognize gay marriage?

Conservative media sources are claiming that Trump's national reciprocity policy ranks among the top priorities laid out in Trump’s policy proposals on strengthening and protecting gun rights.

“The right to self-defense doesn’t stop at the end of your driveway,” Trump’s policy paper stated. “That’s why I have a concealed carry permit and why tens of millions of Americans do too. That permit should be valid in all 50 states.”

Trump's argument is that gun concealed carry permits should be like how driver’s licenses work in every State.

The U.S. Constitution agrees.
