California Seeks Free Legal Help for Illegal Aliens

In California a Democrat from San Diego in the State Senate, Ben Hueso, has introduced a bill that seeks to use California taxpayer money to fund legal representation for illegal aliens so as to fight the federal government against deportation.
The proposed legislation seeks to extend the right of assistance of counsel in the 6th Amendment of the United States Constitution to non-citizens facing deportation because, as the laws currently are written, those illegal aliens do not have a right to a lawyer in the way that those facing criminal charges do.  Hueso has titled his bill the "Due Process For All Act" (SB-6).

The proposal is being pursued as we approach the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, whose campaign promises include becoming tough on immigration, and increasing deportation efforts.
