It is interesting to me that the places in America where gun violence is at its worse is in the cities and States where gun control measures are at their strictest.
Just recently in Chicago, a two-night span saw 7 Dead and 27 Shot.
While for Chicago it may seem to be just another typical bloodbath weekend, the violence in that city surpasses what it takes many communities to experience over a large span of years.
To date, the shootings in Chicago include 48 people shot and killed this month. 256 people have been shot and wounded. 304 have been shot. There have been a total of 51 homicides in August.
For the year, 433 people have been shot and killed in Chicago. A whopping 2,070 have been shot and wounded, bringing the total amount of people shot to 2,503. 470 homicides have taken place in Chicago this year.
The website says a person is shot in Chicago every 2 hours and 18 minutes. A murder takes place ever 12 hours and 12 minutes.
And things are getting worse. Last year a total of 497 homicides took place in Chicago. With 470 already taking place this year, they will easily break that number. 2016 witnessed the most homicides on record for Chicago. The amount of murders in Chicago is just sickening.
California Democrats running the city of Sacramento think they have the remedy to stop the violence in that western State's capital city. Pay the gangbangers to quit shooting people.
What is the ransom Sacramento leftist politicians are willing to pay?
$1.5M to keep the peace
That is, until the gangsters shake down the government for more.
The program offers gang members cash stipends for graduating from school and generally staying out of trouble. It's called "Advance Peace".
Do they think they are going to save lives? Do they think that the gang culture and violent nature of fatherless city kids can be bought off?
The $1.5 million in cash stipends to gang members will come from the city’s general fund. A similar program is being used in Richmond, Calif., and Stockton is considering it.
In Sacramento, the city council voted 9-0 in favor of the program, but the language of the contract has not been finalized.
Change does not come by being bought off. We, as a country, and mainly in the Democrat controlled big cities, have a heart problem. We have a soul problem. We have fatherless families in a culture that encourages violence.
Changing a community does not begin with government, it begins with the culture within the community. It starts with church leaders and family units. It begins with education and prayer. Government cannot fix what is broken because of a loss of virtue. Only the people can return to being virtuous. Change cannot be paid for with money. It must be understood that it was already paid for with blood, on a cross.
