Fort Bragg is a United States Army base in North Carolina.  Military operations training are conducted on the base, and often with live munitions.  During a warfare training event an explosion occurred this morning, injuring eight U.S. Army personnel.  The blast on a training field involved students and specially trained instructors and personnel from the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School. The victims were taken to multiple hospitals in the area.

The events that led to the ill-timed or ill-located explosion is under investigation by the command, and at this moment the cause of the explosion remains unknown.
