Media Neglected to Report GOP Candidate Injury in Fatal Crash

I suppose they can't report everything, but I wonder if this Congressional candidate had been a Democrat if the news would have been all over it.  The story of Katie Arrington's serious accident may not have reached national news, but, at least local news was reporting it.

A little over a week ago Congressional candidate Katie Arrington, who has served in the South Carolina House of Representatives for the 94th district since 2017, was injured in a fatal crash.

Arrington was a passenger in the car struck by a driver traveling the wrong direction. Arrington and the woman she was with, Jacquelin Goff, were both transported to a local medical facility with serious injuries. There were no other occupants in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The driver of the other vehicle died at the scene.

Arrington underwent a number of surgeries, and is stable.  She sustained a fracture to her back and several broken ribs.  One of the surgeries was designed to remove a portion of her small intestine and portion of her colon. The main artery in her legs suffered a partial collapse and required a stent.  Arrington is expected to be hospitalized for two weeks.

Arrington, post-surgery, has been alert and talking to her family.

Arrington was on her way to Hilton Head, where she was supposed to receive an award.

Political figures from across the state are voicing their support for a speedy recovery.

President Donald Trump tweeted, "My thoughts and prayers are with Representative Katie Arrington of South Carolina, including those involved in last night's car accident, and their families."

Governor Henry McMaster tweeted, "We are shocked by the news of her accident and urge all South Carolinians to keep her in their prayers. She is a strong, determined woman. We need her, and she will pull through."

Arrington's opponent in the November election, Democrat Joe Cunningham, says, "Amanda and I are lifting her and her family up in prayer right now. Please join us. We are suspending all campaign activities until further notice."

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Traffic Unit is investigating the accident.
