Grant's Pass, Oregon Teachers fired for religious belief regarding gender

This is from an email received by an ally of Mr. Constitution, the Pacific Justice Institute...

Dear Douglas,

Rachael Damiano and Katie Medart were educators in the Grants Pass School District in Oregon—until they started an organization and posted content about gender confusion on their personal social media platforms.

Rachel and Katie advocated that parents should have the right to know about their child’s gender confusion and that school restrooms should be identified as “Biologically Male” or “Biologically Female.”

Both educators wanted to advance the idea that teachers should be allowed to work without violating their sincerely held religious beliefs, like being forced to address students by their “preferred pronouns.”

The School District reacted by placing Rachel and Katie on leave and ultimately firing them. Pacific Justice Institute represents Rachel and Katie in court. Their union has not helped them. Many teachers have privately voiced their “silent support” for them, in fear of being retaliated against by their own school districts.

But PJI publicly and steadfastly stands with Rachel and Katie, and we will take this First Amendment case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary.
