Iran Election Riots
President Obama: "We are excited to see what appears to be a robust debate taking place in Iran. And obviously after the speech that I made in Cairo we tried to send a clear message that we think there is the possibility of change. Ultimately the election is for the Iranians to decide, as has been true in Lebanon, what can be true in Iran as well is that you're seeing people looking at new possibilities. And, whoever ends up winning the election in Iran, the fact that there's been a robust debate hopefully will help, advance our ability to engage them in new ways."
President Barack Obama was full of himself when it looked like his new Iranian reformist hero, Mir Hossein Mousavi, had a definite chance of winning the election in Iran. Obama wasn't so prideful when the sudden appearance of paper ballots (hmmm, sounds almost like Minnesota's Senatorial Election) led Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to a victory with 68% of the vote.
Obama's naivete was exposed by this turn of events, because the foolish American President actually believed that the true rulers of Iran, the Mullahs, would actually allow someone that believed in reform to win the election.
Iran is a theocratic dictatorship. The image of democracy is a ruse of deception (like just about everything else about the Islamic ideology) to make Iran look like a democracy, when it is nothing of the sort. Like Obama, Ahmadinejad is a puppet, though a happy puppet willing to do the Mullah's bidding.
The decision for president never rested in the ballot box. The people, ultimately, has no say in the governing (or should I say "rule") of their nation. The Mullahs desire to continue their power, to obtain nuclear weapons, and to be a part of the destruction of Israel and The West.
Now, Obama is in a real pickle. If he denounces the elections, and supports the demonstrators, he will be in complete contradiction of his Cairo speech, and his appeasement tour of the Middle East. If he denounces the protests, and supports the Mullahs, he will receive the wrath of the world for supporting the blatant actions of the theocracy in Iran to preserve the current administration.
Ultimately, he will do what he always does (and did last night when he gave a statement on the situation) and use rhetoric that neither supports, nor condemns, either party. He will promise to be fair, and tough, at the same time - and ultimately, he will do nothing, as the region degenerates even further into fundamental Islamist control.
