The old black and white Superman television series was my first introduction to the Man of Steel. A few comic books, and Saturday morning cartoons, helped to better acquaint me with the nearly indestructible Super Hero. Christopher Reeve brought Superman to the big screen, and brought the character to life in ways that I could never imagine. Unfortunately, the Superman movie since, which hit the theaters in 2006, dimmed by comparison, and even turned me off because "the American Way" was removed from his Truth-and-Justice moniker. Instead, it became "Truth, Justice, and all that stuff."
Warner Brothers has decided to make another go at bringing Superman to the big screen. With the popularity of comic book hero movies, of late, why not?
Ironman can't have the skies all to himself, after all.
The man behind the new Batman movies, Christopher Nolan, has been approached to help the studio "reboot" the Superman franchise. Nolan will not direct the film, but will be a guiding hand in its production. But can Nolan's flair for starting a franchise from scratch, as he did with the Batman films, save Superman?
As long as Superman doesn't become as dark and gloomy as Batman, the Man of Steel may have a chance.
