Betty Ford, Fare Thee Well

Gerald Ford was known more for falling down stairs and stumbling on golf courses, than he was for his presidency. Betty Ford was known more for her triumph over drug and alcohol addiction than she was for her time as First Lady. The Betty Ford Center has been a blessing to many, a center inspired by a woman that often shocked America with her words, was willing to disagree with her husband on key issues, and was loved for her candidness all the same.

Betty Ford has died at the age of 93 at the Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, a desert community east of Los Angeles.
