George Washington's Thoughts on Actions that will Adversely Affect Future Generations

Our national debt has gotten to the point that our posterity not even born yet are already in debt.  The Founding Fathers believed debt accrued by the government needed to be paid by the generation that generated it, yet in today's society we have shackled our unborn to our out-of-control spending by a government seeking even more spending in the near future.  In fact, Obama has gone so far as to tell Speaker of the House Boehner that we don't have a spending problem.  Obama believes we have a revenue problem, and apparently he also believes he has an opposition problem.

"It should be the highest ambition of every American to extend his views beyond himself, and to bear in mind that his conduct will not only affect himself, his country, and his immediate posterity; but that its influence may be co-extensive with the world, and stamp political happiness or misery on ages yet unborn." --George Washington, letter to the Legislature of Pennsylvania, 1789
